Fall Color in Marin — Mocha Balayage, Soft Copper Blonde, Cherry Cola Brunette
Fall in Marin asks for richer color — deeper roots, warmer light, shine that holds up in the low evening sun. These are the three looks our color clients are asking for most right now at DAVID JAMES. in San Rafael, and how to know which one is yours.
Mocha Balayage
The brunette that never really left, just got better. Hand-painted ribbons of mocha, espresso and soft caramel through a deep brown base — dimension without a hard line, so it grows out gracefully and still looks intentional in eight weeks.
Best for: brunettes who want light without going blonde, and anyone who wants low-maintenance color with a long grow-out.
Book as: Balayage (from $350+). Most clients refresh with a toner (from $95+) between appointments.
Soft Copper Blonde
Blonde, warmed up for the season. Think golden-copper light woven through a soft blonde base — brighter than a strawberry blonde, gentler than a full copper. It catches the light the way late-afternoon Marin does.
Best for: blondes who feel washed out by summer’s ash tones, and fair-to-warm skin tones that want glow back.
Book as: Full or partial highlights (from $385+ / $300+) with a toner to set the copper.
Cherry Cola Brunette
The richest color of the season: a deep brunette base with cherry-wine tones that show themselves in the light — subtle indoors, unmistakable outside. Glossy, moody, and very forgiving on grow-out.
Best for: dark hair that feels flat, and anyone who wants a change people notice without being able to name it.
Book as: Color / tint (from $150+) with a gloss for that cola shine.
